Long Term Care

For those times when our neighbors and friends need a short-term nurse or nurse assistant for everyday tasks and in-home medical procedures, Bangor Area Visiting Nurses offers private duty or Long-Term Care programs. To find out if this program is appropriate for you or your loved one, please contact us and we will work with your doctor to determine your eligibility.

Registered nurses are available to provide in-home care to help clients with the following services:

  • Filling pillboxes
  • Taking blood pressure
  • Checking blood sugar levels
  • Filling insulin syringes
  • Giving regular injections
  • Cutting toenails
  • Drawing blood for medical providers
  • Removing staples/sutures
  • Weighing
  • Providing general health assessments
  • Providing health education
  • Post surgical wound care
  • Dressing changes
  • Insurance physicals

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) and Personal Care Attendants (PCA) are available to provide in-home care to help clients with the following services:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Skin care
  • Foot care
  • Medication cueing
  • Range of motion
  • Ambulation (walking)
  • Transfer
  • Meal preparation
  • Incontinence care
  • Light housekeeping
  • Errands
  • Grocery shopping
  • Hospice respite
